The Deskstar 7K1000.D is Hitachi's first one-disk, 1TB, 7200 RPM 3.5-inch hard drive for use in power-friendly consumer and commercial desktop computers. This fourth-generation 1TB hard drive from Hitachi uses Advanced Format, which increases the sector size on HDDs from 512 bytes to 4096 (4K) bytes, thereby increasing capacities and improving error correcting capabilities. nice and silent in rubber mounts, cool to the touch yet I still have it in front of a intake, its being used as the primary drive in a W7U64 system, nice and quick start up even though its a new os. not bad fro the price,

I bought 3 of those hard drives, 1 was DOA (it happens, no biggie) and another one that is on it's way to the HDD cemetary since it started clicking badly and locks up/freeze the whole PC while it's doing it. RMA time again.
Wanted to have a minimum of performance and due to the floods causing prices to sky rocket, choices have been slim. The hdd is good enough for most perfomance oriented builds that cannot afford an SSD yet. I have owned a few hitachi drives, only 1 ever failed. would recommend.
