This is Samsung's second BD combo drive, after the SH-B083L model that supported 8x reading for Blu-ray discs. The new drive can play Blu-ray discs and record to CDs and DVDs. Plus, it has fast read speeds, which go all the way up to 12x for BD-ROM discs.

I want a single multi purpose drive with a nice finish on it to compliment the Corsair case I have. The drive itself works great came with oem power dvd to install, very nice, and the glass plate on the front cd panel really added a touch of class to the front of my case! Very happy with puchase.

This BD rips feature films pretty quickly (30 min). The software that came with this drive also plays BR movies with minimal CPU usage (<1%). I haven't tried 3D yet but I'm sure it should work as well since that's more GPU/monitor related right? For the price I got this (on sale) I can't really complain but I wish there was a way to remove that silvery/glossy/reflective faceplate on the drive...

Got this for a test bench machine and we occasionally burn blu rays for PS3 dev kits. It's great for that, have no issues what so ever and it was cheap!
This drive works as advertised so far, fairly quiet and easy to install. I like the mirrored finish look, and it seems to operate pretty smoothly. I had some problems with PowerDVD ver. 9, but after upgrading it works well with my blu-rays. Very happy overall. Price was good as well.
