Out of the two processors Intel have launched today, it's the i7-875K that hits the mark on price. Sure, it's not going to set the world on fire with overclocking records but it does present users who are in the market for an all-round cruncher with a viable alternative to the AMD 1090T and
At stock clock speeds, the Core i7-875K is a better performer than the Phenom II X6 1090T—just a little bit in multithreaded applications, but quite a lot in single-threaded ones. The 875K is also a (very slightly) better value. When both CPUs are overclocked, the 875K retains its performance lead.

Excellent cpu, great performance, really comes alive at around 3.7 to 4ghz, i took it all the way to 4.5ghz but had to buck off to 4.3 stable (as it as flaking out a bit around 4-1/2, not the best OC i've seen but close. With a triple rad and gtx570 on the loop it runs like a dream. High recommendations for overclockers and performance enthusiasts.

Got it PM'd for $289. Great deal. Allows me to stretch out the life of my 1156 platform. Installed without a hitch. OC'd very easy. Stable, fast. Happy with it.

Windows 7 recognizes this as 8 cores due to the hyperthreading, and I usually see it balancing the running to 4 of them at a time. Games run nicely on two and since it runs SC2 on ultra I haven't tried overclocking yet. The option is there for me in a year when I want itI got this in a bundle so the price wasn't that much more than AMD, and for most things it will slightly outperform the Thuban according to some reviews I read. This sure does fly when running multicored apps that will use all you have though! I put the big custom noctua heatsink on it so it runs quite cool in my HAF

I am a system builder and have had limited expirience with most of the 13,15 and i7 both in 1156 and 1366 platforms and with exception of the 980x this is the next closest in my opinion. With the right mainboard you can tell the difference betwen the 870 and 875k. I am using this on a maximus III mainboard with all the overclocking bells and whistles and cooled with Noctua and Mushkin Ridgebacks 6-8-6-21 and with the clock on default its amazing to get such a speed increase without playing with bus speeds and voltages. I would recomend this chip over the 870 and most of the 900 series chips. The price could come down with ncix but price matched for $350 and good shipping.

Performance look alike the i7-870, it's not like a "D0" version. Maybe with a good liquid cool system you will see more benefit to it, but for air cool no big differences then the I7-870.
Used with Gigabyte P55A-UD4P, ram G.Skill Ripjaw 2000, bclk set at 200

-Nice overclocks on this chip with only multiplier increase. I'm running 27x multiplier at 3610mhz. I'm not going for any crowns, just a 24/7 overclock with power saving features on. so far so stable.
