Great option with PM. Am going to use it with hybrid DDR2\DDR3 ASRock Mobo and older AMD Athlon X2 AM2 CPU. Hopefully it cools well enough that I could upgrade to an OEM Phenom II X4 in the future. Dont forget to PM it for a great deal!!

Decent enough for cooling needs. Managed to break off one of the plastic ridges around the fan (doesn't affect it at least) and one of the nubs on the corner. Seems to be doing a decent job keeping my CPU cool though.

I bought this cooler for my HTPC, But the cooler was too tall to fit in the case with the dvd drive installed. I only have 65mm for a cpu cooler and this cooler is 88mm.Would be great for a HTPC just make sure your case is big enough for it.

I got this heatsink a few months ago to replace my girlfriend's really noisy and inefficient stock AMD heatsink for a Phenom II quad-core processor. I wanted a cheap heatsink that could would be rather quiet and could fit in a micro-ATX case. This was just perfect, especially for such a low price!

Hmmm, had to RMA the first one cause one of the clips popped off and left the tightening nut attached to the screw when I was trying to connect it to the mobo. The second one went on okay and seems to be working alright. It's still not terribly quiet and the lack of a copper contact plate definitely doesn't do wonders for it's heat conduction even with IC Diamond paste. In order to give it clearance for it's wide size it uses clips with tightening screws rather than the standard AM2/AM3 lever and clip system and this kind of sucks. In the end, it's still way quieter than the stock AMD cooler and what do you want for under $10 anyway? Good for cheap HTPCs with low clearance or just to replace a stock AMD cooler but if you can afford it, buy a Zalman or something.

I have purchased a couple of these for oem processors and couldn't be happier with the results. A bit better than the ones that come with the retail cpu's and allows dabbling with an overclock.

Don't expect to do any kind of intense overclocking with this cooler unless you live in the antarctic or a freezer and work outside in -30 degree Celsius conditions. That being said, it performs marginally better than what you would expect a cheap cooler like this to actually do. If you're on a budget, pick one of these up and turn your stock cooler into a glorified table coaster.

I originally bought this to cool a new athlon x3 cpu, and it did the job well enough on there, But couldnt handle the resulting temperature rise from overclocking/ unlocking 4th core. It now has its place on an old, but HOT Athlon 4400+ and is keeping the temps nice at 30-40c now. I'm happy

I bought it mostly to be quieter than the noisy stock hsf with my x4 630 idle temps are a few degrees cooler(22c) but load temps is where the big difference is (-12c from stock ) been priming for about 2 hours now and coretemp hasn't broke 50c yet(used to get to the low 60's )this is overclocked to 3.4 ghz in a low pro htpc case also...for 7 bucks you cant go wrong!!!
