G.Skill has introduced Falcon, a new series of solid state disks that use the Indilinx BareFoot controller with a 64MB DRAM buffer. These disks offer read speeds of up to 230MB/s and write speeds of up to 190MB/s. Details about random write performance is unknown, but it could be pretty good considering this SSD uses the same controller as the OCZ Vertex. The G.Skill Falcon will be available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities.

This is an ultra-fast drive. I've upgraded my LG Z1 in a dual boot OpenSuse 11 / Vista Business configuration and even installation from the OEM DVD worked flawless. Switching between native booted OSes takes just seconds.

Bought 2 64gb drives for RAID0 setup to replace my 74gb raptor. Current setup read performance = 302mb/s. Primary hard disk score under Windows 7 = 7.7. I highly recommend this drive!

I put this in my early 2008 15" Macbook Pro to replace a 320GB 7200RPM Seagate drive. When I put the seagate drive in originally I was amazed the difference it made from the stock 5400RPM drive the machine came with. I use my laptop for work, and typically have many programs open, firefox usually has about 30+ tabs open, plus Windows XP is running in VMWare Fusion. I took a chance on this drive, and am still amazed at the difference it has made. Leopard installed in 10 minutes. My machine boots in about 3 seconds (this isn't exaggeration...from the point the spinny thing under the Apple logo appears to the time I'm at my login screen, it takes 3 seconds). My virtual XP instance boots only a little slower. ;)
