The EVGA X58 3X SLI performed on-par with the other X58 Express motherboards we tested and with less than a 5% variance faster or slower, depending on the tests we ran. As a platform, Intel's Core i7 processor, coupled with this new motherboard from EVGA, offers a healthy performance gain (some
The X58 3X SLI is exactly what we have come to expect from an eVGA product. It works perfectly out of the box, comes with a decent bundle, looks great and, more importantly, it overclocks well. Performance is right on par with what we have seen from other X58 boards as of yet.
What I can't ignore is that the potential of this motherboard is really good. The overall baseline performance is on par with the Intel reference board, but the board starts to really shine once you start overclocking. So in retrospect I'd say that the motherboard is a bit of a challenge and

Overall I'm very pleased with this motherboard. Looks sharp, NB and SB connectors work well, although the fan on the stock NB cooler has started rattling after only a few weeks of use. (Not entirely surprising considering that if the EVGA tuning utility is posting accurate numbers, the fan is spinning at 4500-5000RPM).
I love this mobo. I wanted the classified but this will definitely do for now. Paired with an i7 920 D0, this mobo hits clock speeds only dreamt of. I still can't believe I'm getting 60% OC on air. It takes a bit of getting use to it because there are so many parameters you can tweak. I found the post times are scarily slow. The hotspots on this mobo are the VREG and cpu when you approach 4+Ghz. They can get very hot. The chipset stays cool though. If you don't have money for triple channel ram right away, you can still use your old dual channel ram and if you did some benchmarks you would see that this mobo makes dual channel ram run faster. I got better benchs using the same dual channel ram on this mobo than with my 790i digital! The only thing I wasn't sure about was the fact that this mobo makes you use the first 2 pci-e 16x slots when in sli (unlike the 790i). Overall, I am very impressed and would recommend this mobo to anyone.

this thing gives my i7 920 a 21X multiplier. seems to have problems booting now and then with g.skill 3x2gb ddr3 1600 in triple channel. hopefully a bios update will fix it.. overclocks easily just following the guide on the evga forums. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=561984
i got 4.2 ghz with just a cpu host frequency of 200.. shouldnt it be 4ghz then? haha im so confused... lol all i know is it smokes. im still trying to grasp how easy it is to overclock. its just unreal. cpu temps are idle #1 44 # 2 42 #3 44 #4 40, my ultra eXtreme 120-1366 barely fits.. overal a great board.
