Offering your system the incredible performance of flash-based technology, The OCZ Vertex Series delivers the performance and reliability of SSDs at less price per gigabyte than other high speed offerings currently on the market. The OCZ Vertex Series is the result of all the latest breakthroughs in SSD technology, including new architecture and controller design, blazing 200MB/sec read and 160MB/sec write speeds, and featuring up to 64MB onboard cache. OCZ continues to place solid state technology within reach of the average consumer, and delivers on the promise of SSDs as an alternative to traditional hard drives in consumer targeted mobile applications.
Perfect for notebooks and desktops alike, the Vertex Series is ideal for energy-efficient mobile computing to extend battery life, increase access time, and provide a durable alternative to conventional hard disc drives with superior shock resistance. High capacities and low power consuming NAND flash technology provide the necessary performance and battery life boosts generated by the proliferation of mobile gaming and new ultra-thin laptops. With fast access and seek times combined with excellent reliability, the OCZ Vertex Series SSDs are the answer for consumers demanding this latest storage technology.
The OCZ Vertex drives feature a durable yet lightweight alloy housing, and because OCZ SSDs have no moving parts, the drives are more rugged than traditional hard drives. Designed for ultimate reliability, Vertex Series SSDs have an excellent 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) ensuring peace of mind over the long term. All Vertex Series SSD drives come backed a two year warranty and OCZ’s legendary service and support. Vertex series SSD drives are available in ample storage capacities of 30GB, 60GB, 120GB, and 250GB.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive.
*Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive’s storage capacity. On the Vertex Series the naming convention reflects this and the 30 is equivalent to 32GB, the 60 is equivalent to the 64GB and so on.
**Rated speeds are based on NVIDIA 680i chipset and may vary slightly dependent on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size. We recommend using ATTO and PC Mark Vantage for benchmarking SSDs.

Hexus.net reviews the OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD: really speedy random access, matches the performance on offer from class-leading Intel and Corsair drives. For performance junkies who don't mind spending a lot more on a single drive, because once you plug a high-performance SSD in, there is just no
very informative on ssd performance in general, ocz Vertex review starts on page 19. Basicly it says vertex is the best budget drive available. Finally a budget ssd superior to HDD in every way.

Bought this as my OS drive, and while it's my first SSD so my experience is limited, I'm loving it so far. Loading games / transitions in games are so much faster.
This is the first SSD I have tried and am 100% satisfied with performance. Much faster than any HDD I have. I installed my OS only on it (Win7Pro-64)and a couple important programs, namely BF2 and BBC2. My documents and the rest of low priority programs reside on a partitioned HDD. Seems to be a good configuration

OCZ has been one of the best SSD providers on the market. The Vertex 120 is as close to the X-25 Intel as you're going to find performance wise, but has quite a bit better capacity.
The Indilinx barefoot controller has way better properties than the JMicron or Sandforce in TRIM and garbage collection. If you're going to RAID SSDs vertex is the only way to go.

I bought one of these and have been very happy with it. I couldn't believe how fast my computer boots up!!! It was easy to install and haven't any issue with it. Getting the MIR was a pain though.
Got the drive for 399.00 and it has been rock solid for more than 1/2 a year. It's read speeds hit around the 200MBps mark and the write speeds for me hit around the 160MBps mark. A well performing drive. if you have the money it is worth the performance increase, as games and game levels load very quickly. It would be nice if the prices come down one day, but...for now it is a great choice in this price range

I just installed it and I was glad to see that it came with the latest firmware (version 1.5)that supports TRIM in Windows 7.
No issues with the installation, it's pretty much straightforward, but you have to read a little bit on SSD's prior to install. I installed Win7 Home Premium 64bits on it.

This is one of the fastest drives out there, second only to teh Intel x25-M. At 299$ with MIR, I had to pick it up. Use it as my boor drive + games in windows 7. Boot performance is not much better in windows 7, but applications load much faster. The biggest improvement is in games, where are transitions are almost seamless, and load time are drastically cut down. For a gamer, I would say this should be your 2nd upgrade after a GPU.
Bought the drive to see the speed boosts and its pretty good. Everything feels much quicker. One thing I didn't like was the hassle of updating the firmware. It should be fine now but I had to wait for OCZ to have their firmware updated to include the updater for my type of ssd.

All these years we've been upgrading CPU's RAM, bus interfaces, etc etc. NOTHING I have upgraded in the past 5 years makes as much of a difference as this SSD!
I bought two and put them in RAID0, and the speed is even sweeter. Loading games is much faster, Win7x64 boot is a few seconds, etc. These should have been available 5 years ago.

This drive is probably the fastest thing out there, beside the Intel SSD. Everything just feels “snappier”. You might need to tweak a few things (e.g.: disable defrag) depending on the OS version you’re using, and OCZ offers a great support forum if you have any questions.
