 Features    [ Edit | History ]

Using a distinctive, highly efficient heat pipe and fin design developed by Xigmatek, combined with a low-noise fan, the Vendetta is built to tackle heat-induced performance degradation and solves the cooling challenges of today’s enthusiast system builds.

While traditional heat pipe CPU coolers typically use a solid base plate design, the Vendetta’s three copper heat pipes make direct contact with the processor allowing for maximum heat transfer at a more rapid pace. A novel “dimple” design in the micro-configuration of the stacked aluminum fans adds turbulences, thereby reducing the skin effect of laminar air flow. Moreover, a folded "V" shape of the macro-configuration of the fins adds surface area without compromising the compact design. As a result, the Vendetta offers incredibly efficient cooling area comparable to much larger coolers which is reflected in its performance.

The ultra-quiet fan cools without disruption with its anti-vibration rubber connectors to reduce excess noise, resulting in quiet, yet extremely effective performance. Because the OCZ Vendetta has a compact design, even the most crowded cases can accommodate the cooler with ease.

* Although the Vendetta has been qualified for these processors for performance and compatibility, it may not fit some motherboards

Comment: The cooler is tested and reviewed, it kills the Intel stock cooler, and comes close to the Thermalright Ultra-120 with a quiet fan.

Comment: Well written review compared to many other coolers on both Intel and AMD platforms.

Comment: This time around two new air coolers are going through the tests in our new cooling testbed. As you can see they may be similar in price, but the coolers are quite different in size. The OCZ Vendetta is very small and almost looks lost next to the Scythe Kama Cross with a 120mm fan mounted.

Comment: This review will analyze the performance of the Vendetta to see if it can out perform Kingwin's direct touch CPU cooler, despite the physical similarities.

Comment: OCZ recently released their Vendetta CPU cooler as their leading-edge yet affordable solution. This CPU cooler replaces the OCZ Vindicator CPU Cooler that we reviewed many months ago and found it a bit lacking in the cooling department. The OCZ Vendetta uses a new design that is said to better dissa

Comment: The Good Stuff - Decent cooling performance - Pretty compact - Not too expensive - Fast installation - Fan is connected to the heatsink with rubber connectors The Bad Stuff - Noisy fan - Uses push pins. This speeds up the installation but many users prefer a more secure mounting system.

Comment: The Vendetta put in a solid performance at a price that won't break the bank. OCZ continues to put out quality products for each market segment, and the Vendetta is squarely aimed at the mid-level budget looking for above average cooling performance.

Overall, a good cooler if you're on a budget. I would however, push people towards the Vendetta 2 since it is newer and usually just a little more money. As for performance, it's very quiet and keeps temperatures down allowing for a decent OC (given that it costs $30). My one major gripe with this cooler is that it uses push pins for LGA775 (difficult to attach all 4 fully), it would have been nice to have a mounting bracket for the back of the MB so it could be screwed on instead.      » READ MORE

Great deal if you can get this on sale. Has worked in my budget gaming build for almost 5 months without a problem. Highly recommended at the sale price.      » READ MORE

For the price of $15 it is a steal, but i would not buy it at full price... I took 10 minutes to take off the tape residue and 30 minutes to put the fan mounts on.      » READ MORE

At this price and performance, it's hard to find a substitute. I am quite happy with this heatsink. The fan is quite loud at full capacity. A good budget cpu heatsink.      » READ MORE

I was happy when I purchase this. My old 120mm fan was getting very annoying with that whining noise. This heatsink sure keeps the cpu cool by about 3c degrees cooler. It is huge, so make sure you have room in your case! Mine barely fits in a old eMachine case.      » READ MORE

There wasn't a significant temperature difference on e8400, maybe a 4 degree drop. Runs silent at idle; after 1700rpm, you can start to hear the noise. The cpu contact surface is hard to clean but for the price, it was a good buy.       » READ MORE

This is a good heatsink fan for the budget, but you will have to spend time cleaning off those glue residue left by the adhesive protector. If you value your time, you should invest a bit more on something bit higher end (for example: Scythe is a higher quality brand for HSF)       » READ MORE

One of the best HSF for the price. For heavy OCing applications, look to the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme (and pay the price premium). Yes, the fan is noisy at full speed however the Q-fan setting in the BIOS can remedy this. Using the "silent mode" ~1300RPM, the fan can not be heard. If you want to extract the full cooling performance, consider changing the fan to say the Scythe S-FLEX SFF92B 92MM. The sink bottom is covered with a protective strip of heavy clear packing tape. Once its removed, a thick layer of adhesive remains which took some effort to remove.       » READ MORE

This seems to be a great cheap solution for refitting/upgrading old machines. It's not for maximum cooling which as most people know costs money.       » READ MORE
