The 840 exceeded all our expectations. It's faster, overall, than most of the previous generation MLC NAND based SSDs we have tested, which says a lot about Samsung's skill when it comes to designing a controller and firmware.

I recently picked up an old PC with a 2.66 GHz Core Duo, 2 GB DDR2 RAM, Radeon HD 4650 and 500 GB HDD. It was so slow it was painful, thought I was going to have to replace the motherboard, cpu, and everything else. Instead I bit the bullet and installed 4 GB RAM and this SSD and the difference is unbelievable. I have another PC with a Core i3 and 4 GB RAM and this PC is just as fast if not faster than that one now. Can't believe the difference this makes. Silent too, of course, huge improvement over the roaring HDD I had in there. Can't say enough about SSD drives, if you don't have one yet, do it now!!!

I have it for months and i have no problem, got it on sale for 140 but you won't regret it. Works well, nice looking and fist perfect in my SSD slots on my CM 690 ii ;)

This is about my fifth SSD. I've had an OCZ Vertex 1, OCZ Agility 2, Intel X25-M (G2), Crucial M4 and now this SSD.
It's shockingly fast. Being the first consumer "TLC" SSD, I assumed there would be a performance tradeoff - TLC flash memory "triple layer cell" has 3 bits of data per flash cell compared to 2 bits for MLC and 1 bit of data for SLC. However, this drive actually boots and runs even faster than my Crucial M4, which was a high-end MLC just last year! My boot time has dropped in Windows 8 from ~15 seconds down to under 11!

This is my first SSD and I find this drive to be very fast. Even the advertised write speed is 250mb/s I find the drive to load windows and run programs very fast. Saving out large PSD files takes only a fraction of the time. Only time will tell if the new drive will be reliable.

It is a fast drive, but it would have been nice to have a mount or at least a SATA cable with the drive. I'm a little concerned by reports of slowdowns, although I haven't experienced any problems myself. Slick design with brushed metal casing.
