Does exactly what I expected. single threaded apps run, but are not a huge improvement over my Phenom II X3. Multi-threaded apps, run fantastic. Windows boot time is again, faster than the x3, but not a huge improvement. Quite happy with this cpu, and its a good buy considering the efforts AMD puts into Upgrade paths. They have clearly learned their lessons from s754, s939, sAM2. The latter being the most backwards compatible socket(for processors) I have ever seen.

I've been running this processor for a couple of months now with a AMD 7950 GPU. Gaming on both my 24" 1080p and even my Korean 27" 1440p monitor has been perfect. I had an AM3+ mainboard already from a three year old HTPC build so it was nice I was able to throw a modern processor on it and put together a cheap gaming rig. Encoding home movies was also much faster than I expected (TEncoder). When you're buying into the AMD processors (6 core, 8 core, etc), you're really buying into the future of productivity and gaming software. Today's SDK's have made multithreaded development much easier so as newer versions of your favorite apps are released, this processor will start to really shine.

I wanted to test out this processor after having tried out the AMD FX 8350. I must say I rather like AMDs lineup. More straightforward in terms of overclocking and delivering a great price/performance.
I just have to say cody you dont have a clue what your talking about and are clearly just an intel fanboy, this cpu is alot better then any i3 to date and better then most i5's too, you should do research before you talk about something you nothing about,,,, ((for ex)) a core i3-3220 clock speed 3.3 ghz has a cpu rating of 4232 and a i5-3470 clocked at 3.2 ghz has a cpu score of 6616... Now this cpu the amd fx 6300 clocked at 3.5ghz has a cpumark of 6444,,,,, so yeah the i5's score is better by 1.02 percent. ofcourse there are better i5 cpu's and better 6 core cpu's But this cpu will play any game out now with ease if anyone wants a good cpu on a budget

I really like this CPU. I went from a i3 2120 and i'm already enjoying the snappiness as well as HUGE gain that comes with this CPU when it comes to video editing. Also, multithreaded apps run REALLY well.
I think the thing that sent me back to AMD was the price of this CPU along with the fact that you can overclock without having to pay for the most expensive i5 or i7.

I had downgraded from an i7 2600K mainly because I did not need all that power, but I was surprised to find out this CPU ran all my video editors and games with more or less SAME FPS and render times using the same GTX 570 GPU. Maybe 1 or 2 less FPS in all games and few seconds more in After Effects CS6.
Great CPU so far, bought for my first DIY and put on a ASUS Sabertooth FX990 R2.0 board. Work very fast and with ASUS AI Suite II got it overclocked to 4.5ghz. Happy with product and price.

The FX-6300 isn't going to break any records when it comes to gaming performance but it will offer a great amount of performance for the price and perform evenly to the i3 Processors in most games. The FX-6300 really performs well when it comes to applications that are threaded because of this in the future it should perform better as additional threads are utilized for applications and games.
