The Intel Core i7 3770K 'Ivy Bridge' processor may require a bit more cooling than we previously needed on the Intel 'Sandy Bridge' product stack. Though the 3770K is still a great processor that easily pushes past 4.5Ghz and with a little tweaking 4.7GHz-4.8GHz is quite achievable!
While Ivy Bridge isn't really bringing any ground-breaking innovations to the mix, it's still a nice update from Sandy Bridge, bringing USB3 support, lower power consumption and update d graphics to the mix.
For those who are still using an older socket processor (Socket LGA775, LGA1156, or LGA1366), the Ivy Bridge upgrade is definitely a big step forward in both the power consumption and performance.

My buddy said go with an I5, why waste another $100 on a chip that is the same speed as the I&. Most of your games won't use the hyperthreading, nor will the 33% more cache be apparent. The 1mhz difference between an I5 and I7 is negligible.
I was always told that Ivy bridge got really hot. I've got this baby up to 4.7GHz on STOCK voltage on a Maximus V Formula. I am, needless to say, very impressed. The quicksync perk is awesome too:D

Perfect for a heavy video editting/graphics design rig. If you're looking for great performance for those types of tasks but don't want to break the bank going for LGA2011, there's pretty much no better choice.
