bought this for $60 during boxing week, price is good, i already have the older version dns 323, this one is a bit faster but not much, still i would consider slow not fully utilize gigabit network.
I'm very pleased with the DNS-320. I use it for storing downloaded media, streaming to my WDTV Live, and using as mirrored network file storage. 4-5 devices are hooked up to it including my Ipod Touch. Great streamer and data backup option at a great price.
Does not work as advertised, do your research well before purchasing this unit, I know it's inexpensive but if it only works on half your computers it's not really worth it.
Getting 15MB/s to 25MB/s speeds. Theoretical limit of SATA is 3GB/s and the GBIT Lan is 125MB/s (8 bits/byte).... so getting 20% of the theoretical throughput...
This model does surve its purpose and nothing more. The unit DOES format your drives when you put them in, so make sure your files are backed up first. The price was decent at a open box price, however if I knew that open box items have to be shipped from a store to the shipping warehouse first, and then shipped out... I would have spent the extra for a new one. It was not worth the wait of almost an extra week to save $15.
