Wireless Trackball M570 stays in one place so you don't have to move your arm to move your cursor. The sculpted shape supports your hand and lets you rest your arm. Scroll wheel moves up and down through Web pages and long documents. Design also features programmable buttons, back/forward buttons, and an adjustable laser sensor for a wide range of cursor speeds. Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless delivers reliable performance, effectively eliminating delays and dropouts (compared to conventional 2.4 GHz and 27 MHz wireless technologies). Trackball is automatically paired with the receiver plugged into your computer and minimizes conflicts with other devices. Control devices up to 30' away. The included Logitech Unifying receiver is a tiny, wireless receiver that stays in your laptop and lets you add up to six compatible devices. Battery life lasts 18 months. Trackball includes the required single AA battery and is compatible with a USB port, Windows XP, Vista, 7, Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

Stopped working after two months, can't say that I really liked it or got used to it either. I wrote customer service at Logitech: "To be clearer, the trackball by itself isn't carrying the command to the "reader" but if I remove the ball and move my finger inside (where the trackball goes) it does move the cursor but replacing the ball in nothing happens. At first, I just noted it was becoming slower (the cursor movement) so about a two weeks ago I remove the trackball to clean inside as it had some dirt. Two days ago it became again very slow, so I remove the ball but everything looked cleaned so I replace the ball and now nothing happens. The mouse is 2 months old." Here they decided to send a blue ball against which I replied "My mother received the ball yesterday and will be forwarding it to me where I am traveling at the moment. Although it left me with some doubts as I fail to understand how a ball will make it works... Does it have something special inside? Hopefully it won't be in vain." I never heard from them again... 24$ postage down the drain since the new ball my mother sent me obviously did nothing. I was expecting more service after paying over 70$ for a mouse! Product wise I hope it was an isolated case since I've owned in excess of a dozen mice and keyboards from Logitech and never had a problem before, so overall I would say usually good products but a bad first customer support.
Bought this trackball because my microsoft mouse die(ish) stop workin from time to time and i figured why not try trackballs which i've grown to love its fast and precise this one is thumb which have a normal mouse shape, the battery seems to last long as of the use i make of them i may change them once every 8-12 month so its great for me but still i would have loved a wired version of this
had the old Logitech Optical Trackman Trackball years ago and love it, until my young daughter took the red ball out to play with and lost it. got a regular mouse after that and regretted it even since. glad my daughter is now old enough that I can use one of these again. too bad it's being discontinued
If you like trackballs, then you'll love this one....I haven't used a trackball since the days of Apple II's, and I missed it.....took me a little while to get used to it....but now I'm much more precise than with a traditional mouse.
I have had an older Logitech trackball for eons now and still works as it did when new....this new one is for another computer, not for replacement. Very comparable construction so I suspect this one will last for years as well.
I've long been an avid proponent of the thumb-controlled Logitech Trackman wheel - both the original corded and cordless versions (silver-grey with red thumbwall). I moved to them years ago, after far too many hours of Baldurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights (with a traditional mouse) left my right wrist a daily aching mess. I've long since moved on from the 20 hour gaming marathons, but the Trackman Wheel has stayed with me (I have three of them now). I was thrilled to hear that Logitech was refreshing the line, with the M570.
This one was very easy to set up. Just pull the tab out of the bottom of the trackball, allowing the (included) battery to make contact, and turn it on. Then, plug the mini-USB receiver into a USB port, give it 40 seconds to load the drivers, and PRESTO...its working flawlessly. Even the "forward and back" buttons work properly without configuration (only tried in Firefox). I had no need to install the Setpoint or Unifying software, since it all worked out of the box.
