I got one of this when it has mail in rebate. But even without the rebate, it is one of the cheapest 8 port gigabit network switch. It does improve my network throughput.
Not really any cons here. For under $40 you get 8 full gigabit ports. Runs pretty cool. Personally tested and was able to pull 120MB/sec without issue. Great switch for the price.

I bought two of these bad boys to replace old 10mb hubs at work. they're working great so far, and I've had no problems whatsoever with neither one of them. The VIP port doesn't seem to do anything, but I suppose it's some sort of QoS type of thing... anyways, I haven't pushed those switches up to the limit of saying 'I'd like to take full benefit of this VIP port'. All in all, not a bad product. Would buy again, but don't forget to price match.

Overall i'm happy with my purchase. I don't really feel like the VIP port does anything special but the unit works like I want it to. Had one hiccup that required a power cycle when I first got it but haven't had any troubles since. I also have an 8 port greenNET switch. They have both done their job although I haven't had any hiccups with the trendNET switch.

This is a great Ethernet Switch for this price. Its hard to find an 8 port gigabit switch but this is definitely the way to go. You'll have your LAN parties up and running blazing fast with this!
