Im satisfied with this purchase, bit still it is somewhat expensive. You will need a high quality headseat like sennheiser PC 350 to see the difference.

Best PC sound card available period. I've been using Creative sound cards since the SB16 and recently replaced an X-Fi Xtrememusic with this. It's my first Xonar and it just blows away the X-Fi. It is hooked up to Logitech Z5300 speakers (front only). It is a 2.1 soundcard (through analog RCA) but it does support digital coax/optical for 7.1. Since I play all my movies on the home theatre, 2.1 is good enough for music and the headphone amp is great for gaming.
I've upgraded from an Auzen Prelude to this and am quite happy with the audio performance. The sound is very detailed with a warm signature that isn't fatiguing after extended listening.
For anything looking to buy an STX, do NOT. The Xonar ST actually has better sound quality due to a different way of managing the sound, Other than that they are the same card. NCIX actually has the ST for cheaper than the STX which is rare.
I had creative xfi elite pro and it broke on me 1 year in. creative has horrible customer service and only back up their sound cards with 1 year warranty.
Just built a new Computer Jan 23 2012 from parts off of NCIX and I'm happy to report that the new Motherboard I went with had 2 PCI slots available. (Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 AMD 990X AM3+ ATX DDR3 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 2PCI SLI SATA3 USB3.0) Placed my card in the new build, installed the drivers for Windows 64bit (old computer was Windows 32bit)and I'm just as happy as the day I bought it. No issues with the 64bit drivers or the new build at all. Now I'm good for a possible 5-6 years with the new rig and sound card. Since my original review I've updated my entire music collection to FLAC, sounds sooooo good! A modest 500 gigs worth. So yes, still a fantastic card and remember to price match kids!
