I bought 2 of these NICs to team them up in my home built ESXi 5 server. They have been detected right away and I have had no problems. I use them to connect to my Synology DS412+.
This adapter gives me significantly faster network transfer speeds than my onboard realtek port. This is great for people who use media PCs or home servers.

I picked this up to give it a try as i had read that Intel NIC's were supposed to be far superior to the Realtek that came built-in to my motherboard. Honestly, I can't tell the difference. Maybe if I run some more tests but it's not like my internet experience is faster or my downloads are constantly maxed out. I don't have this in a network so maybe the gains are noticed there?
I bought this card a few years ago for my brother and later bought one for myself after getting his feedback from it. My brother who plays WoW arenas competitively found his response times and load time felt a lot ore snappier as opposed to using his onboard NIC.

I've had this for a little over a week now and so far it has performed as expected. No surprise; Intel is an industry leader and manufactures the best NICs in the business.
I bought this on a referral from an Intel sales rep, after a very engaging presentation he gave through which he enumerated the merits of having a good quality NIC. This one uses copper and can accommodate Cat5 cables up to 100 meters in length. It installs into a PCI Express 1.1 lane, for 2.5GT/s.

Well I bought this because my connection to the internet kept on dropping but it turns out I had a bad stretch of cable (Rogers replaced it) that was causing the problem. This unit works fine though.
