This cooling unit took my ATI Radeon HD2600 XT from about 55°C (idling on failing GPU cooler) and 85°C during heavy workload down to 39°C idle and 47°C during heavy work. It's exactly what I needed, and the blue LED on the fan is just a nice added touch (all my other case lighting is blue).

The only issue I could have with this heatsink is that it's not set up to blow air out of the case. Is that an issue for cooling the video card? Not at all. Is that an issue with cooling other components, such as the CPU and north/southbridges? Yes. When your GPU starts getting hot, the air blowing off of it can increase temperatures elsewhere. Is it really such an issue, though? Not at all. With this Zalman heatsink you will reduce the noise level in your case to near silence. The extra 1-2 degrees that your CPU will gain is nothing compared to the 5+ degrees that your GPU will be cooled by.

Although the heatsink its huge and heavy, the performance is excellent. Keeps my card cool and the noise is barely hearable. The LED fan is also a nice bonus to those who have a side window.

This cooler took my 8600gt o/c to 769 core, 969 memory, 1735 shader (620,800,1457 stock respectively) from 48 degrees idle, 69 degrees full load to 35 degrees idle and 48 degrees full load.

Got this for my ATI All-In-Wonder video card which runs VERY hot for video capture and recording. No more studdering or picture freezing. Runs cooler than room temperature now. Solved all of my vga cooling problems.

Installed this on a Radeon 4850. It is no louder than my BTF90 CPU fan and temps dropped to 56 C max under load. I wish it came with a molex to 3-pin fan adaptor.

Used on my XFX 9800GT, the stock fan would go 81C at full load and 55C idle, this thing dropped down to 54C and 40C idle, and that is with overclocks 750c/1045mem/1825shader.
I installed this cooler (along with the ZM-RHS70 heatsink) on my XFX 4870 1 GB card. Installation was easy, just time consuming (I was very thorough in my cleaning of all mating surfaces).
Took me about an hour to mount on a Sapphire Radeon HD4850. No problems to speak of: the mounting studs fit perfectly, and the procedure was quite straightforward. I picked the VF1000 as a compromise between enormous size and lower performance, and so far it has come nicely up to my expectations. It uses up a second slot, but not a third, and cools things down about as much as anyone would need.
