I bought this to replace the exact same model I had that finally died after 8-9 years. The blue panels were missing, it been dropped, stepped on, landed on (by a couch), and still worked awesome. Love this system! (Read More)

I Have owned one of these for more years than I can remember. Maybe 6 years, I'm not quite sure. I'm amazed to see that the exact same model is still for sale. I remember the exact model name because I've heard many good things about this router (it was the reason I bought it to begin with).

Owned this for over four years now, still going strong. Gone from my main router to a wireless client to leech neighbours wireless to a wireless G range extender. Still in use but recently bought 2 new routers so I'll probably retiring this soon. Figured I should give it a review. I've only loaded Tomato on it over the past few years. It handled a high number of concurrent connections (when you use BT) but with recent changes to Tomato mods to include IP Bandwidth monitor, the 54GL hardware is showing it's age. It simply cannot keep up. I wouldn't buy this new; if you badly want a router or wireless G range extender and can find a used one for cheap, then this device may be a viable option. Otherwise, go for one of N routers. (Read More)

Lasted 3 years before dying but it was heavily used. Was looking for a possible replacement at the time but Telus gave me a wireless modem when I asked so haven't bothered (Read More)

I have been purchased and installed close to a dozen of the "L" version routers for friends and work and I have never had a complaint even when I left the stock firmware on. They work well, they are reliable, and when you flash them with Tomato or another stable firmware you get features and reliability which can sometimes only be found in equipment costing many times more. These routers aren't pretty, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I suspect that the only reason Linksys/cisco doesn't make a more powerful version is because it would ruin the market for their commercial routers. (Read More)

This router is legendary. Can't really comment on the stock Linksys firmware, but if you're buying this, its probably for Tomato or something else anyways. I've had Tomato on it since day 1 and the two go together like peanut butter and jelly :). Legendary performance (Read More)

Great router! I easily updated this one with DD-WRT firmware and was able to get it configured without issue. This router works perfectly out of the box. It is a fantastic unit for boosting your existing infrastructure or expanding your wireless range. (Read More)

Bought a certified refurbished router that didn't end up working and had to get an exchange. Replacement worked fine but was still annoying to set up. With that said, everything now works perfectly. If only needing a router for wifi, this old model will do the trick as good, if not better, than any of the newer routers. (Read More)
